The California Latino Legislative Caucus endorsed Jose Sigala for California’s 33rd Assembly District.
Senator María Elena Durazo, Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, spoke of Sigala’s record of accomplishments and dedication “Jose Sigala brings a remarkable combination of leadership and experience. As a Tulare City Council Member and the city’s first Latino Mayor, Jose has worked tirelessly to deliver essential services and improve people’s lives. His experience as a legislative staff member will allow Jose to hit the ground running in Sacramento. Jose is ready to lead.”
“I am proud to earn the endorsement of the California Latino Legislative Caucus” said Sigala. The new 33rd District includes Tulare, Kings and Fresno Counties. Sigala is challenging Republican incumbent Devon Mathis. Sigala, a Democrat, criticized Mathis for failing to serve the district, “It’s time our District elects a leader who delivers real results for our schools, working families, communities and farms.”
Redistricting placed Mathis in one of the most competitive districts in California. The 33rd District has a 54% Latino majority with party registration split evenly between Democrats and Republicans. “Our District is ready for a change in leadership. I will serve all of our communities and am ready to go to Sacramento and deliver” added Sigala.
