One of Visalia’s own is back to serve the community she grew up in as the newest family medicine physician in Tulare County.
Christina Patty, M.D., who grew up in Visalia, is now caring for patients at Visalia Medical Clinic, an affiliate of Kaweah Delta Medical Foundation, at 5400 W. Hillsdale Ave., Visalia. Dr. Patty is Visalia Medical Clinic’s seventh family medicine physician. She is offering in-person visits and telehealth appointments.
“After being away for so many years I really wanted to come back to the valley,” said Dr. Patty, who as a family medicine physician provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages through all stages of life. “I am so happy to be able to do what I love to do every single day which is caring for my community and getting to work with lots of different patients, advocating for their unique needs.”
A graduate of Redwood High School, Dr. Patty studied abroad in Italy during college and went on to graduate medical school in Mexico at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. She completed her residency at the UCSF School of Medicine in Fresno.
“I went to medical school in Mexico where I learned Spanish, which was really important to me to be able to communicate with a broader group of patients that reflect my home city,” she said. “A lot of my training focused on the rural and underserved community. I recognize the need here in Visalia because I grew up here. That is what inspired me to become a family medicine physician to serve this community and to make a difference in a smaller town that I know well and I care about deeply.”
Dr. Patty is married to Dr. Rafael Martinez, a Family Medicine physician, and has two children. When Dr. Patty is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking and taking day trips.
