TJ Cox moves forward for Valley Veterans during Town Hall

At a Town Hall Meeting Tuesday in Sanger, 21st District Democratic Congressman TJ Cox addressed a multitude of local concerns and illustrated progress regarding water consumption, agriculture and aiding our combat veterans.

“The suicide rate needs to go down to zero,” said Cox, addressing those with Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome, especially those who live in rural areas and don’t have easy access to medication, treatment and therapy.

On Oct. 4, Cox announced the introduction of H.R. 4588 Modernizing VA’s Records Management Program Act. This bill, co-introduced with Reps. Aumua Amata (R-AS) and Greg Steube (R-FL), would treat digitized records as originals with respect to claims administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. According to his Cox’s website, this will ease the process of applying for claims and getting veterans the care that they need.

“We aren’t worried about impeachment right now. In addition to our concerns for veterans, my staff and I are concerned about what matters to my constituents. Saving Medicare and Social Security, getting clean water and getting education for our young people are bigger priorities.”

Cox has raised $10 million for PTSD research for those who have put their lives on the line for their American brothers and sisters. This is a 20%-25% increase in appropriations. Even though the struggle continues, hope remains that progress for those feeling hopeless remains.

“We are here to work for the people and be responsive,” said Cox. “We are very proud about serving our communities.”
