In deference to the competing events on July 3, including events at the ballpark, the Foundation Board voted to hold the Freedom Celebration on the traditional date of July 4.
The fireworks program has been altered for safety reasons and will be even more spectacular from inside Giant Chevrolet Cadillac Mineral King Stadium; however, it will be less visible to surrounding areas.
The program, which starts at 7pm, will feature the return of local favorite Run 4 Cover, and, of course, culminate in a fireworks spectacular. Concessions will be provided by several vendors. Gates open at 6:30pm.
The event will be free to the public but a donation of $3 a person is requested to help defray costs. As in the past, the board is also requesting donations from potential sponsors.
This will be the last year the foundation will sponsor the Freedom Celebration as the scope of the event has outgrown the group’s limited manpower resources. The foundation is actively seeking organizations willing to take over this popular community event.
If your organization or company has an interest in taking over the event, call Carol Hoppert Hays at 713-4599.
