Kaweah Delta to Host Sleep Disorders Support Group on March 17

Tulare County residents who are having trouble sleeping or know someone who has a sleep disorder are invited to attend Kaweah Delta’s A.W.A.K.E support group on Monday, March 17, in Visalia.

The free support group is called A.W.A.K.E. because it helps people stay alert, well and keep energetic.

The topic will be “Understanding Your CPAP Supplies,” and will take place from 5:30-7pm inside the Acequia Wing Conference Room (first floor of Kaweah Delta Medical Center) at 126 S. Floral St. (at Acequia Avenue).

Approximately 40 million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with sleep disorders each year. The long-term effects of a sleep disorder can be serious and include heart attack, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure and more.

Kaweah Delta’s Sleep Disorders Center is an eight-room center staffed with board-registered technologists who conduct sleep studies in a home-like setting. All tests are interpreted by physicians who are board certified in sleep medicine.

Established in 1963, Kaweah Delta Health Care District is one of the area’s most progressive healthcare providers. It is the only facility with Magnet status in the San Joaquin Valley serving children and adults and remains the only level III trauma center serving Tulare and Kings counties. The district offers a comprehensive scope of services including everything from a well-respected pediatric hospitalist program to nationally recognized orthopedic and cancer programs.
